About the artist

Marloes De Vries

Since Marloes was four years old, she's been determined to become a painter. After graduating from art school, she worked as a graphic designer and illustrator of over 40 books, which resulted in several awards for her storytelling and drawings.

In 2020 she picked up her paintbrush again, and started working on paintings as a investigation to the meaning of home.

"There has always been a thread in all my work, whether it was an illustration or a book I wrote: making space for people to be themselves.

I believe that if people are allowed to be themselves, we create a happier society. If we can be ourselves, it's easier to connect to others. Those connections are key for people to feel seen, feel safe and therefor; be happy."

Marloes divides her time between the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
